Set 24

Due midnight, Tuesday, April 14

Statement of problems (pdf)

Note that at the end of each problem, the ranges of answers are given. For example, all answers in the class for problem 1(a) will lie between 2000 and 9000 kg/m3. If your answer is outside this range, check your calculation. You did something incorrect.

Report

(1) Look at this report before you work on the problems. This report contains the data you need to insert into the blank spaces in the problems. The number following [01] goes into the blank space labeled [01] in problem 24-1; the number following [02] goes into the blank space labeled [02] in problem 24-2, etc.

(2) Look at this report anytime you want to see which answers were marked incorrect on previous submissions.

Submit answers

Submit answers for all problems at the same time. Answers left blank will be graded as incorrect.

Give all answers to at least 3 significant figures.

If you need to enter an answer in scientific notation, indicate the exponent of 10 with an "e". For example, 3.00x108 would be written 3.00e8, and 1.6x10-19 would be written as 1.6e-19.

When you submit your answers, they will be immediately graded. If any of your answers are incorrect, you will see what the correct answer should have been. You will also see new data for the next try. You may use these numbers to recalculate your incorrect answers and submit them again. On the retries, you only need to submit answers which were marked incorrect in the previous try.

You get 3 tries. After the third try, your answers will no longer by accepted.
