Extra Credit for Homework Set 8

I want to try out something new in this course, and I will give you extra credit for doing it.

Hand in your work for the problems in homework set 8. This is due at class time next Tuesday (February 3). Please submit this in the same slots where you submit the free-body diagrams, but don't attach it to the free-body diagrams.

For extra credit, you must

Write out your work neatly.
Assign algebraic symbols for each quantity in the problem.
Obtain an algebraic expression for each answer, then plug in the numbers with units, and then show the calculated answer with units. Show each of these steps explicitly in your work.

I show an example of this on a page in your course packet, "Sample Layout of Problem Solution" (right before the "Chapter Summaries of Mathematical Relations").

This will be worth 5 homework points extra credit.
